About NSDI

National Spatial Data Infrastructure encompasses the policies, standards and institutional arrangements involved in delivering spatially - related information from many different sources to the widest possible group of potential users.

SDI arises in mid 80's when many institutions start to establish GIS applications. Each and every institution builds its own spatial database. The consequence is doubling work, very difficult data exchanging. There were no standards, no price politic, no agreements, no cooperation, spatial information were not available for other users. Generally looking - institutions were loosing money for non - necessary operations.
SDI is an answer for these difficulties.

SDI mission is TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCY IN MANAGING SPATIAL DATA.
